Almuth has worked at Studio Sem since 2006 when she was one of the first recipients of the Fondazione Sem Pietrasanta Residencies. Until then she was working with clay, bronze and welded steel. She dove in with enthusiasm and discovered a whole new language with a new material.
She said herself….. “There is so much work to be done. I am discovering a new world of form, texture, volume and gravitas, in a very different cultural setting and I can bring aspects of everything I had done before into a whole new body of work”.
Her lyrical shapes in stone command the attention they deserve and she has produced several commissions for marble in recent years with the help of Studio Sem artisans.
For the past 2 years she has curated the summer exhibition ‘Sculpture in the Garden’ for the Leicester University Botanical Gardens to great acclaim.
Almuth works with us several months of the year and is by now part of our family of sculptors.
We look forward to her arrival every year with anticipation to see new models and ideas.
